The Irvine Golf Club has a vibrant Ladies’ Section which was established in 1893. We are delighted to welcome new Lady Members and visitors to our Clubhouse and challenging Course which has a Standard Scratch Score of 74 for ladies.
Our competitions are held every Tuesday - the photograph shows a small selection of our Cups and Trophies, many of which have been donated by former Members.
We also hold an Open Tri-Am Competition on the first Monday in July each year from which all proceeds are donated to charity. From our 2009 event we donated £1630, divided between the British Heart Foundation and the Kieran Mess Foundation which aims to improve the quality of life for children diagnosed with a brain tumour. From our 2010 Tri-Am we raised £1800 which will be donated to MS Scotland Society. The entry form to our Open Day Tri-Am in 2011 will in due course be available to download from here.
In our Star Draw which raised £408 for MS Scotland, the lucky winners were:
June Thomson (Irvine GC) - 4xBall at Dalmahoy Golf Resort
Sandra Hill (Kilmarnock Barassie GC) - 4xBall at Dundonald Links Golf Club
Elaine Cowan (Irvine GC) - 2xBall at Rowallan Castle Golf Club.
Congratulations to the lucky ladies and our grateful thanks to all who contributed so generously to our Open Day.
Throughout the year our active Social Committee organizes interesting evenings which are well-supported by our Members and their guests.
In September 2009 we were honoured to host the LGU Ladies’ Home International Matches and thoroughly enjoyed seeing inspirational golf from some of the top amateur lady golfers from Great Britain and Ireland. Sadly for the Scottish supporters, the Home team were narrowly beaten by Wales by 2.5 pts to 2, with England scoring 1 pt and Ireland 0.5 pt.
